About Us

Why We Are Different . . .

If you are new to running you will benefit from running with the 5Rivers Running Team. You will train alongside seasoned runners who can give you insights and training tips that will help you grow toward a running lifestyle.

 

The 5Rivers Running Team are runners with many years of training and racing experience (based on lessons learned). The 5Rivers Running Team can successfully train novice as well as veteran runners for any distance from 1500M to the marathon. The 5Rivers Running Team will help improve your running in a motivating and fun environment.

Our Mission

Our Brief History

The 5Rivers Running Team was formed in early 2007 after a need was recognized to coach, train, and mentor novice as well as veteran runners. The name 5Rivers relates to the five waterways (Great Miami River, Stillwater River, Mad River, Twin Creek and Wolf Creek) in Dayton and Montgomery County area.

BOB SCHUL Olympic Gold Medalist 5000-Meter Run (Tokyo 1964)

Bob Schul won the 5000-meter run in the 1964 Olympics ahead of Germany's Harald Norpoth, American Bill Dellinger, and France's Michel Jazy; he is the only American gold medalist at the distance. Schul once held the American 5000 record of 13:38.0 and the world 2-mile record of 8:26.4.

Trained and raced with the Bob Schul Racing Team from 1985 to 2002.

 

Founder/Coach of the Emerald Coast Racing Team, Pensacola, Florida (2002-2006).

 

Successful Masters’ and Grandmasters’ racing career at distances from 1500-meters to the marathon.

 

1999 Dayton River Corridor Classic Half Marathon Grandmasters Champion.

 

22 Marathon finishes, including 1992 Boston Marathon.
